Employees: Legal Advice Regarding Non-Compete Agreements

Non-Compete Agreements (Representation of Employees and Former Employees)

Many employers require employees to enter into non-compete agreements as a condition of employment. Non-compete agreements intend to prevent individuals from competing with an employer after employment has ended.

In Florida, non-compete agreements can be enforceable, and can profoundly impact an individual’s ability to earn a livelihood after separating from an employer. For this reason, employees confronted with a non-compete agreement should seek legal counsel before signing. Regardless, non-compete agreements are not always enforced. There are a number of defenses to non-compete agreements available. Weldon & Rothman, PL regularly assists individuals in evaluating the enforceability of non-compete agreements, and provides representation to employees in litigation involving non-compete agreements.

If you would like to consult with us regarding a non-compete agreement, or if your employer has or intends to commence litigation to enforce a non-compete agreement, please call us to meet with an experienced attorney to discuss your situation.

SWFL Back To School Driving Tips

SWFL Safe Driving

Weldon & Rothman, PL, Southwest Florida Car Accident Attorneys Offer Safe Driving Tips for the School Year

As our children head back to school, it is a great time to think about our driving habits to avoid an unnecessary motor vehicle accident. Here are Weldon & Rothman, PL’s driving tips as you hit the road this school year:

Leave home early – Many SWFL car accidents occur when drivers are in a rush. This can cause drivers to be distracted, take their hands off the road (multi-tasking), and fail to obey the speed limits. Try to leave the house 10-15 minutes earlier and you will be a more relaxed and careful driver.

Avoid distractions while driving – One of the dangers that we unfortunately see too often is a distracted driver, texting or playing on their mobile device. Nothing can be that important to put you and your family’s lives at risk.

Slow down – Speed is one of the leading causes of car vs. pedestrian accidents and car vs. bike accidents. We all know that children have a higher tendency to dart into roadways than adults. School bus stops can be a dangerous area when children are playing, or simply attempting to cross a roadway. Be on the look out for bus stops and cross-walks and slow down in the area.

Obey bus passing laws – This goes without saying, but be observant of all bus stop signals and do not pass a bus that is stopped with signals on.

With a little common sense and some patience, we can make this a safe school year on our Southwest Florida roads. Should you or your family be involved in a car accident, and have questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office and our attorneys will meet with you in person.
